How I transitioned from heat damage to beautiful curls!
I have been blonde for almost a year now and I always get questions about how I got this blonde and still mange to keep my curls looking moisturized, long and healthy. So, I came up with a list of five things that helped me achieve my beautiful curls!
1. Keep them moisturized!
Everyone knows that curly hair is usually super dry. That is mainly because those beautiful curls prevent the natural oils on the top of your scalp from getting all the way down the your ends! That’s why moisturizing your hair every couple days is so important. I use Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Hair Oil. It comes in a spray bottle, which makes it super easy to moisturize those curls without ruining your hairstyle for the day! It is sold at target for $11.99. Here’s the link!

2. Wear your Scarf/Bonnet
I know your momma has told you not to go to sleep without a silk bonnet and if she has not, I am! Every single time you go to sleep without a bonnet or scarf, you are paying for it. Cotton pillows against your curls is like asking for breakage. I am getting the chills just talking about it. A silk bonnet, pillow or scarf will prevent your ends from breaking off and keeps the curls moisturized and looking fresh the next day. Get them at your local beauty supply for a good deal!
3. Get a Trim!
Whether you do it yourself at home or go to your hairstylist, it’s important to get your ends trim regularly to prevent your hair splitting! I trim my hair at home because it saves money and I can control how much hair is actually taken off. It’s not hard to teach yourself. All you have to do is watch a lot of youtube videos and practice. If you are not comfortable with it thought, I would suggest visiting a professional!
4. NO HEAT!!
I cannot stress this enough. No heat at all! Okay, maybe you do not have to cut out heat all together, but heat styles can be really damaging to your hair. See how long you can go without it! I took a break from heat for a whole year and my curls blossomed! In July 2018 I cut most of all my heat damage off! I went from this :
To a short curly bob! (see picture 1)
and then again in december 2018 I got my last big chop and I did not put heat on my hair for a whole year! Whenever I wanted straight hair, I wore a wig! Now, my hair is blonde and healthy then ever before. And today it looks so beautiful. (See picture 3&4)
5. LOVE YOUR CURLS If you love your curls, it is so much easier to want to take care of them! Embrace those curls girl!
If that’s not healthy, I don’t know what is!
